Today is Betty’s 100th birthday! 
Who is Betty you may be wondering? Betty is a good friend of Laura B. Anderson Elementary. She has lived in the LBA neighborhood her entire life. Growing up, she attended Riverside, one of the first Sioux Falls School District's first schools. Riverside was rebuilt in 1963 and re-named Laura B. Anderson, after the Riverside school educator. What is really unique is that Laura B. Anderson herself was Betty’s teacher. (Her favorite teacher, in fact!)
In honor of Betty’s milestone birthday, LBA students from various grades took turns walking over to her house this afternoon to sing her happy birthday as she watched from her porch and deliver hand-made birthday cards. She answered student questions about the “old days” and shared lots of laughs and smiles from her porch.
